They didn't cost that much to make even 10 years ago. The Witcher 3, which is now a decade old, costed only $107 million (adjusted for inflation). Nintendo, even to this day, rarely ever spends more than $100 million on a game. You could fund 2 whole AAA Nintendo games with that money.

Okay sure, but the normie audience LOVES ultra-HD games. That's why Squeenix, M$, Sony, Rockstar, Ubisoft, and Capcom have such inflated dev teams. If you want more reasonable dev teams, games are going to have to look closer to what Nintendo makes than what Sony makes.
