Why do japanese people consider it an honor to work 80 hours a week? It's not uncommon to see game devs in Japan talking about working on a game non-stop for months on end, going to the hospital due to exhaustion, and still do that shit until they've finished a project.

My only frame of reference is vydia because that's the only thing from Japan i consume, but you take a look at guys like Miyamoto or Sakurai, these guys are GOATS in the industry, but they are not filthy rich. They do have money to live a comfortable life and not have to work again if they wanted to, but a Miyamoto in the west would be a billionaire, meanwhile he has like... 50 mil? Again, the guy created Mario, Zelda, Metroid, all that shit that sells them Nintendo consoles.
