The gameplay has nothing to do with Pokemon. It's ARK with cute monsters. But what Palworld manages to do so much better than Pokemon is evoking this feeling of "you and your monster buddies". The pals have so many expressive animations and more uses than just battling with all the base tasks. They just feel way more personable and alive than the Pokemon do in their games.
