not just TF2, but it's unironically a generational thing caused by some sort of weird mix between nihilism and learned anti-social behavior. people used to talk all the time in video games pre 2010 or so, it's only recent people get bothered/are uncomfortable by people using VOIP trying to communicate the game or are just tryna have a normal conversation
