If anything I think this show should have had more "filler" interactions between the main cast before they started spelling out their issues:
>episode 1, Kaufmo abstracted, no time to unwind
>ep 2, Pomni was separated from the others and only bonded with the npc
>ep 3, all the Jax/Ragatha/Gangle scenes were offscreen
>ep 4, everyone was awkward around each other but at least there was some build up
I feel like I started seeing the actual relationship dynamics only after episode 5, TADC does have a lot of foreshadowing but it also likes to focus on a lot of inconsequential wacky shit for better or worse. The excruciating wait between the episodes doesn't help so there's a lot of filling the gaps with your imagination going on. I don't know if it will pay off, but at least it's got sovl.
