Nigga it's a Disney universe where everything operates on just a little bit of toon logic. It's one of the literal keys to heaven (picrel is why >>718076819 looks like that) that happens to also be usable as a weapon. The games literally draw attention to the fact that Sora using it primarily as a sword is unorthodox. That doesn't change the fact that the actual visual design of the Keyblade (at least in Kingdom Key form, obviously there are some variants that look pretty retarded) is nowhere near "overdesigned."

The D is in there somewhere. I remind it pops out during keyblade transformations. And it's based on the keys to the Kingdom of heaven. Although these two facts make the lack of the gold keyblade even weirder. But at least you'll get the point of why its 2 crossed keyblades.
