guys serious question

how do you guys determine the best volume level to use? the thing with super hifi headphones is that they're so crystal clear and there's so much instrument separation that its difficult to determine the right volume. like you might have some treble hitting 85db or w/e, or like something around 2-5k thats causing damage if you're listening to extended periods. with "regular" headphones, everything sounds like 1 wall of sound so its easy to determine the volume level. also because there's like no clipping/distortion as you raise the volume with super hifi stuff, thats another thing where it becomes hard to determine the right volume for long listening sessions. as you turn up volume you just get more clarity and more powerful bass impact. there's a temptation to turn up the volume, not knowing you might be raping your ears

at super low volume levels aswell, its still crystal clear, but you might be gimping yourself out of more volume/power that would sort of be wasted if you're not using it

im confused AF about finding the perfect volume. only way for me to find out would be to get a db/spl measurement device

you guys have any practical stuff? like ive read snapping your fingers is around 80-85db. so if you can do that (and you're wearing open backs) thats sort of around the right volume

when i listen at "low volumes" for long periods, i dont know if its like the higher frequencies and treble doing this? but even at that low volume, because of those higher frequencies i become extremely sensitive to sound. like i go outside and it feels extremely loud all of a sudden. like im more sensitive to sound, but because of that i cant determine the right volume

its so weird with hifi compared to just normal audio stuff. i like cant "feel out" the right volume. halp ;w;
