you have to realize a few things. 1) inflation eating your buying power is a hidden threat (less hidden lately). you invest to avoid that. staying in cash is not safe. 2) accept that your lizard brain is risk averse by default, and that losses will hurt more than gains feel good, but in reality they are the same. 3) the longer your investment horizon the less risk you are taking. if you are in this for the long haul, ignore short term drawdowns.
