My expectations go up every year despite my income barely rising.

Not being rich is degrading and being in the UK makes it so much worse. There isn't any aspect of my life that couldn't be improved by throwing more money at it. "Frugal living" is a humiliation ritual.

Economy flight seats that have you right next to a fatso. Going to gyms instead of having the space for a home gym.

I could buy a shitty car for £8k but that's multiple months of work in terms of savings. I don't care about cars but cheap cars look like cuckmobiles. Meanwhile, American high schoolers drive Dodge Chargers (whatever those are).

High regulation means that all property in the UK is overpriced or shitty.

I didn't go into biglaw or finance straight after university, so I'm a serf now.
