2035 felt too much like Glukhovsky seething at Putin to be good, even though it had a few cool moments. I don't know why people have a problem with 2034 though. The nihilistic story about Homer and Sasha trying to see love and beauty where there is none and getting burned for it is right in line with the plot of the first book, even though it's different in many other ways from 2033.

It's because you always want what you can't have. When a woman's feet are out of focus or you only have a couple of pictures of her feet, they become much more valuable to you. Conversely, you will value the feet of a well known footslut with hundreds of posts on onlyfans much less because the high supply depreciates the individual value of her feet pictures.

FTL has built in perfect RNG mitigation though: the blue option. If you pick the blue option, you always succeed (or at minimum avoid losses). The idea is to encourage you to have a diverse set of crew, systems, weapons, and upgrades rather than hyperfocusing on a specific thing. FTL (and every other rogue/lite for that matter) is all about risk mitigation. Getting stuff that gives you lots of blue options (engi crew, hacking, high level engines/sensors, etc) will remove RNG and help you survive and thrive. It's part of getting good at the game. The FTL event system is incredibly smart and one of the main reasons the game is so good.
