Well, more research needs to be done as ot isn't definitely proven that they contracted CWD. But still and all, it is not a risk I am willing to take.
Under laboratory conditions they were able to infect humanized transgenic mice and primates with scrapie. Under normal conditions it seems unlikely that it will cross the species barrier, but there is now a non-zero chance due to some scrapie isolates being shown to be capable of crossing that barrier.
