>It was new at least and introduced some fresh concepts

NO IT FUCKING WASN'T YOU MONUMENTAL ILLITERATE RETARD. You know what a real swerve and subversion was? EMPIRE STRIKES BACK! Episode 8 was the Orange headed retarded getting high off his own farts. To say it was different or introduced ANYTHING is a flat out lie and if you believe it for a second you're an idiot. Sure did love wasting time in a casino whining about capitilists unlike that good disney. The only thing 8 introduced were characters who were somehow worse for the franchise than Jar Jar Binks. Fuck you. You're an idiot.

They're neither a good thing or a bad thing. They're just a thing. Joseph Campell, when he wrote his book wasn't making a statement it was an observation about humanities nature. I think it was Tolkien who, when he did his Beowulf translation, complained that so many critics were too busy trying to critique the story that they forgot how to read it. They didn't see the story for what it was because they were focused on analyzing it and taking it apart for cultural significance. This is the most offensive issue with things like TV Tropes and Cinema Sins. They warped a generation into over analyzing a work before they actually experience it. They go in ready to jump at any "trope" they know without minding the context surrounding it. Without letting the story tell itself. We have a whole group of people, obsessed with proving their own genre savvy that it feels like they're actively in a competition with it. They go out of the way to guess twists then call it predictable if they're right. They're obsessed with seeing an end even if they miss the journey. It's complete disengagement.

What you can afford and what you're willing to spend are very different things.
Deku is a worthless character made for a generation of lazy self inserters who want all their problems to be anything else's fault but their own. They believe that their "potential" is just waiting to be unlocked if only someone would give them the key to the universe. Anything resembling struggle or requiring any amount of effort is simply the universe being unfair because they're secretly all special little perfects and why should they be expected to give back anything.

Because it only had to be onscreen for 10 seconds.
