You're not using it wrong. Supportniggers are just fucked in the head. They get all soiboi excited when they fucking STAGGERED that bile titan. Holy shit they interrupted an entire attack. Or maybe they'll chuck a small gas cloud in the direction of the enemy before running off without helping, but in their mind that little fart helped a lot. The spear gun is vastly overrated and needs a big buff to its ammo supply or durable damage. The people hyping it up are the same people that jokingly hype up the shitpoch.
That said, there is a pixel perfect shot that's possible where you shove the harpoon directly up a charger's ass that results in multiple hitzones reporting hits. You can one shot it, or maybe it's two shot it, if you hit that perfect shot.
