They're retarded, but it's mostly the game being bugged.
Honestly it's satisfying stunning things and piling up enemies before flinging a couple grenades to kill them all. Like stun builds are valid, but a lot of stun weapons just don't work right now.

Like stuns are great. Just they need to get off their high horse and make stun weapons actually stun properly.
