Before, the Eruptor and plasma guns being servicable was an anomaly. They were just too good, and could be ignored as outliers.

That massive exhaust cloud coming out of the GATOR rig is one of those things that really makes me wish these fucking retarded developers were a little more competent with the actual technical aspects of their job because they do so well on style points.

Not only is it funny and thematic but it also acts as a visual indicator to show you where the GATOR is without even having to look at your map. Hell you'd even be able to locate it if you were playing with the HUD turned off.

Yet they fail to properly designate appropriate call in locations for hellpods and pelican drops within the cave systems. Or release items into the game like the new pineapple grenade that are functionally useless.

EDF has various points through the games where you're actually underpowered compared to some of the enemy spam you have to deal with quite frankly, it isn't actually just clicking the win button and winning all the time.

The fact is, high difficulty consists of one of two things: maximal kiting and disengagement when possible, and fighting an absurd amount of shit when that fails. Some people don't find the idea of minimizing encounters fun in their game that is also about maximal bug/bot/squid murder. The game asks you to run meta, because you are going to have to deal with those intensive enemy wave spikes that need mass hoard clearing. When you're with 4 people coordinating decently yeah you have some room to fuck around with weapon choices but you still have to revolve your entire loadout around how to deal with massed heavies, because that is effectively the only challenge the game ever has to pull that matters.

This game is fun and I enjoy playing it.

the thing is, not really though. at launch it was bringing a railgun because of the ps4 bug, then it was bringing EATs or RR because the autocannon couldn't deal with biles. Nothing's changed. You still gotta have the answer to the game dropping Bile after Bile (and Charger upon Charger with them), which means you need heavy pen, which is all that matters. The entire game is just juggling what you find to be your favourite source of heavy pen with a side dish of whatever the fuck else you wanna take for the things that don't matter. And that's where the chosen meta guns come in, they can take care of everything else without being fussy about it letting you just actually use more fun shit for giggles. That's what anyone actually wants, and the majority of primaries being underwhelming compared to a handful that are great should, in fact, be tuned up through some method or another because it is just more fun. But like I said the real problem is deeper than what they can do with gun design, they have to adjust enemy design entirely to really work this problem out in a satisfying way while still having room to expand on shit.
