Most people into TES did not play Morrowind at launch. Just like most people into Fallout did not play the isometric games and refuse to do so now despite the fact that they can be beaten in a week. Most people into MLP did not watch previous generations, most people into Star Wars now weren't born when the originals released, all the people into superheroes were not kids who grew up during the 1930's when Superman and Batman punched Hitler's radiation enhanced badguy and told you to buy warbands.
