It's not like they have to deal with it.

I have just understood the Americans' aversion to public transport.
Everything in America revolves around black people, so of course the way their cities are built, the infrastructure and transport.
When we criticise the Americans for being so anti-pedestrian and anti-bicycle in their cities, and for being unimaginative about public transport in the European sense, we have to bear in mind that they are approaching this from the side of the Negro problem.
And so it becomes clear why an American city will never be liveable. Why gated communities, suburbia and depressing highways are everywhere. American life is about how to avoid meeting a Negro. Public transportation is an unavoidable encounter with the Negro. That is why, since the 1960s at least, American urban planning and infrastructure construction has focused on avoiding the negro problem. If you drive a huge pick-up truck, you can quickly get from house to house on highways and freeways. The negro is avoided. Your family is safe. It works, but it also comes with the implication that American urban life is incomparably worse than European. And all because of the Negro.
