Her early stuff is pop-country which is a very white/conservative genre. And the 00's pre Obamamania were pretty conservative since you had the GWOT, forced patriotism etc. There was more of a demand for clean-cut guys, trad looking girls etc.

Her handlers probably told her to be politically neutral(look what happened to the Dixie Chicks in the 00's) and her fans could imagine she agreed with their political views.
