There's literally nothing to retcon. The mainline games to this day still haven't mentioned anything from the comic outside of a single missable Tangle namedrop.
It's been SEVEN YEARS, mind you. They don't even have Sonic Channel art for crying out loud; NiGHTS, Elise, Professor Pickle, the Unleashed Ice Cream man, Sonic Man and the fucking Station Square Train Station dad got Channel art before them.
