I didn't see it as her having an existential crisis, she (it) gained conciousness by completely assimilating with Darumi and knows it's not human. It has all of Darumi's memories and self-esteem issues and all of those coupled with a retsnom's suicidal tendencies led it to believe that Darumi would have wanted to quietly fulfill her wishes and leave Takumi to be happy without a literal monster hanging around him making him feel fear and guilt.
I already forgot some stuff but I think this was what I thought of it at the time.
