Nope, that won't happen. The purpose here is adversity and danger, and what you describe is bullshit because Yoru and Asa did not have a friendly relationship like Pochita and Denji. Yoru's threat of absorbing Asa's brain was long in the works, foreshadowed since the start of the story and always looming in the background. Now is the perfect setting for it to become a reality due to Yoru's side of the brain being mortally wounded. It's a simple case of her of Asa. With that the entire foreshadowing of a choice Denji needs to make by Fire devil is perfectly contextualized too.

This is the time for shit to get real in the story.
