/t/ gets DMCA'd a lot. It works just like on any other website with user created content. If someone posts content rights holders deem illegal, they contact 4chan and ask for it to be removed and it is. I haven't gone there in a bit, but for example, in the ASMR thread, not only would /t/'s posts get DMCA'd, but even the third party /t/ archives would as well. I briefly considered using my own self hosted archive for that /t/ thread, but then I lost interest.
