How is /t/ still up?
The board has been around since 2003, is hosted in the US, and hasn't been shut down yet.

How? 4chan is not like an obscure site or something. You'd the the feds would be on it by now, right?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm genuinely curious. How has 4chan keep a torrent board for over 20 years?

threads are ephemeral, by the time they notice the threads with the links are gone.

for DMCA they have to provide the links, without links, no DMCA

there was a pic on /t/ not too long ago of a user banned from a DMCA, but unfortunately I can't find it

Not gonna lie, I feel like the threads on /t/ last quite a while compared to other boards, but maybe that's just me

Couldn't the admins still get flagged for not moderating off copyrighted content though? Like obviously copyrighted content is shared (against 4chans rules obviously) and 4chan archives exist - couldn't copyright holders flag 4chan as a "pirate site" somehow, or does copyrighted content moderation only really apply to DMCA notices?

It's that one. Section 230 shifts the liability from the service to the user. So they need to send notice for every infringement instead of expecting the service to do the copyright holder's job for them.

I think that it was a board where people would post RapidShare links.

How is /f/ still not up? unlock it already.
>>106280287
Newfag here that does research, I think it was a page where you submitted links to RapidShare and optionally providing a password on 4chan so only people who came through 4chan could download said file

You didn't submit them, it would show rapidshare links that had been posted to other boards.

/rs/ didn't allow posting.
it would automatically parse a post if it had a URL to DDL website and post it there.

Why was /rs/ shut down and not /t/?

you don't have to verify age to get into the many porn boards either
the government either doesn't care or has bigger plans to kill the whole site

Probably because nobody gives a shit, there are threads on there spanning several years and barely any new threads ever get created. It doesn't need to be killed, it's already dead.

literally not true faggot.
New threads get created all the time. They just don't need to be created as much since almost every topic has a general already (cartoon, anime, music) that most people post in.

>>106284212
Maybe you're right. I always see the same old threads getting bumped whenever I go there, the newer ones probably tend to get fewer posts.
Anonymous No.106284756 >>106287232
>>106284595
A board like that is better suited for generals. Otherwise you would have 20 different threads asking about a certain movie or whatever. It's a waste of space when you can just have a single thread for movies (or a few depending on the niche).

It is, but that screenshot showing the majority of the posters were from the zionist entity was deboonked.

Some fell for it, but i think the yids either made it to begin with, or are trying to make lemonade out of it by continuing to shill the fake news. The reason: they've realized they can throw all the JIDF at this place they want but they can't win. The alternative is to scare people away.

/t/ gets DMCA'd a lot. It works just like on any other website with user created content. If someone posts content rights holders deem illegal, they contact 4chan and ask for it to be removed and it is. I haven't gone there in a bit, but for example, in the ASMR thread, not only would /t/'s posts get DMCA'd, but even the third party /t/ archives would as well. I briefly considered using my own self hosted archive for that /t/ thread, but then I lost interest.

Threads are still used occasionally but new threads generally aren't made lol - if they are it's usually just a recently dead thread remade or some random slop. The posts about gen threads are right though, the board is better with them.
