Karma takes care of these things automatically... killing anything generates negative karma. Even for Jesus.

The theocracy’s religious teachings buttressed its class order. The poor and afflicted were taught that they had brought their troubles upon themselves because of their foolish and wicked ways in previous lives. Hence they had to accept the misery of their present existence as an atonement and in anticipation that their lot would improve upon being reborn. The rich and powerful of course treated their good fortune as a reward for—and tangible evidence of—virtue in past and present lives.

Everything counts.

Every creature you kill, or cause to be killed, places a Karmic burden upon you. The Karmic burdens inherent factory farming are especially heavy, due to the conditions suffered by the animals before their slaughter. This leads to humans becoming very ill, and shortens the lifespan.

Note that there is also some Karma involved in killing plants, but as they are not sentient, it is so small as to be of no practical importance to ordinary human life.
