I like it
I was playing X4 with so many units on the screen and the FPS usually it would be bottle neck by CPU dropped to 20fps
but with fake frame at least it look smooth at 60+fps
and since I played it like a strategy game it doesnt matter if the frame arent real cause I can still ordering fleet normally
some ship on the radar might jump around but I just pretend it was some kind of radar lag

this is why I prefer the mount and blade in space kind of games more
which are just starsector and x4
the different between these games and games like elite is that
in these type of mercenary type game you can keep progressing until you become big player in the grand scheme of thing, like your own faction and what not
in games like elite, after you get out of hobo phase there is nothing much to do, you just go do random generated mission/content in the empty sandbox until you are bored
like sure you can do x go y but there is no purpose with all your money beside just buying bigger things
there is no funneling money and resources into war front
