i read this book a few weeks ago that answers some of the concerns though it did not intend on doing so.. other books have defined the concerns laid out here, perhaps for the first time, of a 'mass culture' which turns readers into consumers and rewards profit and consensus and debases critical thinking.. this all leads into and stems from ideas of globalism and monoculturalism we are seeing around the world.
its sad.. the left, 100 years ago, was jam packed with heavy hitting intellectual leaders which challenged not just authority but outdated principles and ideas.
its not just the left that is being destroyed by this but all spheres of thought, and all political inclinations.
the book also gives a very nice insight into the working class life of early 20th century Brits.
its a very interesting and well written work and i can see why it was so influential. its a shame its been forgotten for the most part. its a foundational work in many ways and becomes more relevant by the day
