i read this book a few weeks ago that answers some of the concerns though it did not intend on doing so.. other books have defined the concerns laid out here, perhaps for the first time, of a 'mass culture' which turns readers into consumers and rewards profit and consensus and debases critical thinking.. this all leads into and stems from ideas of globalism and monoculturalism we are seeing around the world.
its sad.. the left, 100 years ago, was jam packed with heavy hitting intellectual leaders which challenged not just authority but outdated principles and ideas.
its not just the left that is being destroyed by this but all spheres of thought, and all political inclinations.

the book also gives a very nice insight into the working class life of early 20th century Brits.
its a very interesting and well written work and i can see why it was so influential. its a shame its been forgotten for the most part. its a foundational work in many ways and becomes more relevant by the day

i wish this concept was explored MUCH further. some of the consequences are obvious. like the success of slogans and sound bits upon people who can't read.
a 6th grade reading level is harry potter for example.. and i was curious about this concept a couple days ago and looked up some passages and they are incredibly simple sentence structures.
you have to think critical thinking skills are heavily effected by such handicaps as well. ironically there are not many books on this topic.. (how societies can be transformed (or resist transformation) or be influenced and the ways in which such people can be influenced on a mass scale based on the populations proclivity for reading.

i read this recently but it is only tangentially related.. still very good work

just noticed the epub release i have has edited the cover image... this is like a 50 year old photo that isn't sexual in any nature unless you concern yourself with the opinions of extreme individuals and the unwell..
frustrating the aesthetic decline and bubblewrapping the world is going through for the endless 'just in case' scenarios. really is Brave New World/Fordian type mentality.
