A typical ratio might look more like 1:3, which means for every one soldier that died, you have three that are wounded. It also means a quarter or 25% of your casualties are deaths. So if you have 100,000 casualties, under the ratio of 1:3 you have 25,000 dead and 75,000 wounded.
A ratio of 1:1.3 is really bad. It means that almost half of your casualties are dead.
