Yea, at least John K. (for how much of a complete scumbag he truly is) knew how to be expressive with his animation, and he's very knowledgeable and very trained tooth-and-nail with animation, despite being cutthroat to work with on the long run. Even the character designs have a lot more heart and soul.

As for the Games era, I honestly would rather watch that era than the reboot. It's obviously inferior for sure, but it also had good ideas, and there were a lot of great episodes like Ren's Bitter Half, Ren Needs Help and Double Header that, dare I say, are just as good as the Spumco episodes

That's a normal reaction to have when confronted with a story that is driven by established and beloved characters getting corrupted and killed off one by one just to prop up a shitty fanfic about how internet culture is a problem. Awareness that all of this was done as someone's magnum opus doesn't exactly benefit ones mental health.
