This is what I hate about the story, or maybe what I hate about taoism. What counts as going with the tao, and what counts as fighting against the current? Is Tao chill with what Eigong did? If not, then it would be correct action to try and reverse it. Alternatively, if Tao wishes your entire civilization to die a sufferable death, you should fight against the Tao.
