Vagrants really should been such a larger part of Kuro 2 and Kai. I get they don't want to resolve things until the finale but their solution to that is to just do... nothing instead?
All Vagrants does in Kuro 2 and Kai is give Van chest pains for 20 seconds like once per game. Why even write this kind of story if you just do nothing with it? Why are Falcom allergic to actually telling a story now? It's like they write a beginning and an end, and then absolutely fucking nothing happens in between those two points. Vagrants should have been a constant sword hanging over Vans neck which is what the story tries to tell you it is yet it just never manifests in any way whatsoever because Falcom are just so afraid of actually telling any kind of story.
They could have done so much with this connection in Kuro 2 and Kai while still saving the resolution for Kai 2 but they just fucking nothing. It just blows my mind how little they did with anything they set up in this arc. Now when they actually do resolve it in Kai 2 it's just going to be lame because they did absolutely nothing to actually build up this connection they have and it's just gonna resolve immediately.

I don't know what Falcom planned to do with Kincaid in Kuro 1 and 2 but it legit feels like they had no idea until Kai. I think if I had to pinpoint the biggest flaw in Calvard is that it doesn't really feel like there many throughlines from one game to the next. Kincaid, Gramheart, Hamilton etc are just not really properly built up in Kuro 1 and 2 so when they finally become relevant in Kai you just don't really feel the way you should. It's been harped on to death but this arc really just suffers from not having a plan.
