Archetypes clearly still exists
In some gamescom blog or video "packages" were mentioned. I think what they did was basically bundling of multiple related talents together. Like various Burst attack related talents now come automatically with Rapid Fire. You just pick if you want Burst Attack bundle or Area Attack bundle for your Soldier. That way it's similar, but you will need less levels in game so less frequent leveling, but bigger and more meaningful choices, as a response to the most common complaint about RT leveling.
I guess we will get to pick an Ordo during character creation too, since they even made a vote about it

Well that's what it's claimed in journo articles anyway. Might be that Owlcat will fail at this. Or journos misinterpreted something. I wouldn't be surprised if it all was reliant on skill checks only, but journo didn't realize that the reason why Epione gathered a clue was because she simply passed a Medicae check and not because it's something inherent to her.
