I play owlkek games twice, once on release when they are a buggy unfinished mess and once a few years later when all the dlc is out and they are a bloated buggy but finished mess.

Bros I played the ttrpg of dark heresy with a small local group for a while years ago
It was cool but for various reasons the store shut down and I haven't ever been back
But while this looks really neat and a good way to continue exploring WH40K and dark heresy for myself, I see it's a CRPG which I haven't ever really played or got into when I tried with some others even pinnacles of the genre like BG2

in short, how do I get into CRPGs to play this?

Lower the difficulty till you're comfortable. Then choose whatever. You wont get the most out of combat that way, but if you're new the narrative stuff will probably be the most interesting part for you anyway. So you can focus on that.

I'm playing Rogue Trader now and I barely know how the system works. I bounced off the game twice because you have to level up 6 party members literally every 5 minutes, and I had no idea what to do.

Now I am playing with character guides, and I'm loving the experience, but combat is still just not engaging. I kind of hate it. I just let my super OP characters tear shit apart and move on with the story. And I feel like there is no middle ground. Either you have no idea how to play the game, or you follow guides and it's all a breeze. Anyway, still looking forward to Dark Heresy.

its not even a particularly complicated system, if you are capable of reading you can put together a good build, I think you might just be a retard.
Really its based on a TTRPG from 2009 if people can play a more complicated version wtih physical dice where the game doesn't calculate, display and spell out 100% of the math for you and you need a guide to play the game you are probably very lazy and or bad at math.

For some reason I don't find the systems of RT that fun, so I don't care to learn. Idk why. I find the world and story engaging (my favorite parts of RPGs), but the combat is just meh.

I guess it gets a bit more fun after like level 25, when your character finally starts to have it's own niche, but until then it's boring as fuck. Like 25 hours of just shooting once per turn and probably missing.

What do you mean by these games? Owlcat games? RT has no prebuffing like their Pathfinder games. You literally can't cast buffs on your characters before battle. Somewhat viable buffing only started to be a thing with recent dlc which added a Pet class since some pets allow you to transfer buffs onto allies around said pet. However, given how initiative and turns work, it's often hard to get your "buff" dispenser character to act before other characters and so most of your team will scatter on battlefield already.
And it's not meta anyway.

Grand Strategist is literally this, always going first and throw out area buffs/debuffs with zones, additionally it can be taken on Officer which can give other characters extra turns to do their things, either your damage dealer or another buff dispenser (on top of their own single target buffs).

Rogue Trader is easier than their Pathfinder games, if you're playing on normal you should be able to spend your points on literally anything and have it turn out viable. Just pick what sounds fitting or fun for each character.

Grand Strategist is mutually exclusive with Overseer which is what I was talking about. Biomancer with a PsyberRaven is actually nice at buffing if you manage somehow to get everyone around the birb and then relay buffs without making other characters waste their turns doing nothing

You can still have the Officer-GS give the Overseer an extra turn to do their thing, Biomancer Overseer has multiple ways to get AP refunds so 2-3 AP is very enough.
Stacking buffs on the main DPS so they can start killing is still better in most fights though.

I do not believe this is even possible. At worst you will have red lines everywhere. Obviously you should connect your colonies to a capital or Footfall to help with travel. Taking Cassia with you on a ceremony at the end of act 2 gives you 50 free navigator points too

40K is unironically the most one-sided, bland setting you can use for character driven roleplay, sadly.
Everything is one shade of "muh emprah" or "muh chaoz", there is no point to any of the layers the characters may have because by one point or another of the story they will get completely overriden by picking one dumb side of genocide or the other.

In various articles it was being talked about already. Medicae queen can identify wounds, catachad being weapon expert is supposed to deduct what weapons were used to commit a crime, skill checks unlock clues too. You gather them and dialogue options show up depending on which clues you have. Game motto is "Innocence proves nothing" and apparently truth isn't really relevant here. You can intentionally blame and kill an innocent if you think it will be for the better.

I just beat Rogue Trader the other week, it was amazing. It's possibly one of the best games I've ever played.

I kind of want to try Pathfinder but I have 2 concerns, firstly that I'm not sure how much of my enjoyment of RT came from the 40k setting and secondly apparently those games are WAY FUCKING HARDER.

Should I? And if I do do I start from Kingmaker or go straight to WOTR?

As someone who played all owlcat games on launch but had no interest in Pathfinder prior to the Owlcat games they're good experiences, though I enjoy Warhammer much more. I wouldn't be too worried about the difference there.
Personally I prefer Kingmaker, but WOTR is a lot more polished.

I'm in the same boat, Pathfinder is probably going to be much harder than RT because RT restricts cross-class levelling so it's easier to make an optimal build. My knowledge of 40k has also setting allowed me to avoid some traps. Regardless, I enjoyed RT so much, I am going to jump into WotR at the first opportunity (sale)

Yeah I also prefer Rogue Trader mainly because the combat is less tedious than Pathfinder. You don't have to spend 10 minutes buffing before every fight and the addition of various range weapons help the game fell less tedious.
