Yes, the south is rampant with meth too. Back home it was impossible to avoid the tweakers. They were everywhere. I had two different methlabs in my neighborhood growing up. One of them exploded and the other one burned down.
Shit, they even told me I didn't have to empty and clean the steam table and got, like, legit mad that I did it anyway. The fucking thing was covered in bits of oil and meat and marinade. It was gross and had to be cleaned. It should be emptied and cleaned daily regardless of how dirty it is.

Pilot lights are fine. Every kitchen I've worked in had a stove with pilot lights. They're great, and you don't gotta worry about the ignition system failing to ignite.
