The remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was an abomination. Totally removed the grime and visceral horror of the original. The Evil Dead remake was alright. Most of the books I read aren't adapted in to films because nobody would watch them (case in point, Silence performed miserably at the box office). Though the adaptations I have seen are generally pretty good. Even The Trial starring Anthony Perkins was great, and I'm generally not a fan of Orson Welles. They need to stop trying to make video games into shows. They never work. The Halo show, from what I hear, was horrible. Fallout is really bad. None of the Resident Evil movies or that stupid fucking show they made are even worth considering watching. Silent Hill was garbage. And now they have a fucking show based on a gale that hasn't had an entry in the franchise since 2012? What the fuck are we even doing anymore?

I recently rewatched some vidya movies I thought were decent for what they are but nah.
Street Fighter is always fun to me and Mortal Kombat actually has some stuff going for it. Sets, soundtrack, costumes, cinematography, some decent fight choreography.
Nowadays they're just artistically bankrupt and refresh old names for a modern audience. The numbers must fit and money has to be made, no more risk taking,

A lot of the books I read don't lend themselves readily to film. The Book of Blam would probably make for a good film though. The only good thing about Street Fighter was Raul Julio. Mortal Kombat was complete shit through and through. It's always been about making money, even back in the day. But back then it was cheaper to make a film so the studios were more willing to fund things. Nowadays it's all hundreds of millions of dollars for budget and has to make at least double the budget to consider breaking even.

I have a soft spot for the Street Fighter film, it's a guilty pleasure, I'll cut MK some slack but in the end it's pretty meh.
