I didn't know anything about The Hays Code, I figured it was some post-war HUAC shit, like the Comics Code Authority. But I looked it up cause it got me interested and nope, it started back in the 30s.
Yeah, now we have the MPA, but they're literally just the MPPDA with a changed name. And their "ratings" system that is supposedly voluntary. But if I remember correctly about that, if you don't get it rated then you can't release it in any theaters except small independent ones.
