Taking ot out of the temple doesn't kill you. They had Henry Jones drink from it and he was all better then they took the cup out and he was still fine. All the removal of the cup did was destroy the temple it was housed in. But in theory you could escape the crumbling temple with the cup still in tow. Oh, they did have The Hays Code. The Hays Code was in place from 1934 to 1968.

We still have remnants of it today. The president of the MPPDA, Will Hays, wrote the rule book that was known as The Hays Code, is still around, but now it is called the MPA. They're the folks responsible for film ratings. They're also the folks who are like, you can show a tits out lady or have he cooter on display and get an R rating, but if a dude flashes his asshole or shows his dick it's an X rating.
