Gets a bit iffy. Most artists in general use some form of reference material, so I suppose it depends heavily on whether the reference material in question is actual CP. Manga and anime also tend to be very visually stylized, so the character depicted may look radically different from any model used.
I'm not a lawyer or anything so I don't know if there's precedence either way.

That's fair. I mostly consider the US situation because I myself am American. I don't like what Texas is doing; we need to stay on top of AI and protect IRL children without imposing restrictions on artistic freedom, and I'm certain it will be abused if it's not struck down.
>or if two minors above the age of criminal responsibility engage in sexting they could be persecuted
Situations like this are also muddy and I agree they need to be looked at carefully, but again I'm mostly focused on things like manga and other illustrations.

Also holy shit I haven't been on /b/ in forever.

I think the shows the netflix audience watches and the shows /a/ watches aren't really overlapping very much. It won't change much in the same way that video games didn't change much when they went mainstream, a new tier was just created to corral the normalfags and the lower budget studios (same budget as the old AAA) carried on making Underage Panty Quest XIV for the nerd audience.

So why is violence and rape and dark crass things good and allowed but anything upbeat and sexual gets instabanned?

I genuinely don't understand but maybe I am not very smart.
