I used to cheat, but once you do it you can't put the genie back in the bottle, and cheating makes you lose interest in the game faster.
I prefer legit, but I play casually anyway.
I don't judge anyone who cheats though, the RNG is retarded, and I've legitimately lost shinies due to being unlucky (Shiny Paras in Safari Zone didn't stay in the ball) or just being unprepared (Shiny Makuhita in Victory Road whirlwinded me in gen 3, although this is the exact situation why I now always master ball such shitters in early gens if I find them).

It was my fault though, I have no idea why I did what I did, it was the stupidest shit, and my driving instructor let me drive through the town without any issues for a few hours before the damn exam, with only minor mistakes.
