I liked it much more when the Stolas/Stella situation seemed like it would be a bit more of a gray area. Them having an actual marriage and stolas loving his family, but being a lusty weirdo, would’ve been so much more interesting. Making stolas forced into the marriage, completely gay, Stella completely cruel, and stolas absolutely in love with Blitzo feels like an attempt to remove any blame from stolas, but it also makes it all so much more boring.
They also made the relationship between stolas and blitzo completely one-sided for almost the entire run of the show thus far, making blitzo more and more of a piece of shit, while none of the other characters ever seem to hold it against him. Then suddenly, he has this dramatic turnaround that just doesn’t feel at all consistent or believable.
There’s just no nuance in any of it. Every aspect of the relationship drama, and that seems to be all the writers care about is relationship drama, could have been so much more interesting.
