How am I supposed to know if I got a new notification now if I'm not using my phone and the screen is off?

I bought a fucking 1000 dollar phone and it doesn't have a notification light? How the fuck are smartphones getting so bad?

If I use the native Edge Lighting it only triggers once the moment you get the notification, it doesn't keep showing the light until I get rid of the notification like it is supposed to.
If I use third party apps they require the screen to be dim and never turn off with AOD which is even worse.
