I think some gacha games actually have enjoyable gameplay, but the problem is that mechanics are almost never beatable through skill and instead require either more investment into your characters or better characters altogether. Xenoblade chronicles 2 did it somewhat right where the blades were acquired through gacha, but the game was designed in such a way that you could beat it with the starting shit you get.
