As a new player? Only use your gold to roll on the banners, never for general rolls. Efreeti seems like a late game support, so it's probably not worth it as a new player if you just start out. Only roll on the general banner with tickets you get.

I was starting to lose steam going through the story until I got Yui (spent everything on her banner), then I started curb stomping every level. I didn't reroll for good units so I was stuck with the free units, Araha, and Ines but no personal weapon for any of them.
