the problem is he thinks any famous chess player is an eceleb, he actually called kramnik and mvl ecelebs and would ban people for talking about any chess player even those who died before the internet was invented, he also HATES any sort of humour no matter how chess related, when I said he's insane I meant it literally not as a figure of speech

Yes there were retards derailing the thread but the janny was banning people for trivial stuff which had nothing to do with doxxing or thread disruption. People left(and not just a few, most of them) because of the insane moderation. This is exactly what killed tg /chess/, not the shitposting. Tg /chess/ survived the conzy wall era, joey posting wasn't as disruptive. The janny banning everyone was. And this wasn't just friendly fire. this went on for years and only got harsher the more people complained. There were polls that you can still find in the archive about this
