>Eureka
People were bitching about this content being so grindy from the first week of it being dropped. Yet, people kept slaving away on the content and even were having a blast. I actually had a lot of fun in there on-content. Also met quite a few friends during Eureka, who are no longer playing the game. (They're either married, moved on with their lives, or have passed away.)
>the true period of near death was during Heavensward
To be fair, the development team during Heavensward was assing around and taking vacations back during that time. You also had "World Firsts" in Savages that extended out for weeks/months at a time instead of it being conducted in a few days. You also had Square Enix moving the servers from Toronto, Canada to Sacremento, California during mid-late Heavensward where it took 48 or 72 hours to resolve that maintenance.
But people stuck to this game unlike 1.0's disaster.
