Can you post a pic of the mouth end of the mystery shell? I'm curious how they are crimped or otherwise closed.
Anyway, I really wish I knew what these were called so I could look them up, but it was several years ago I stumbled across them and Google's search sucks these days. I do remember it was somewhere in Europe that this was being done, I want to say Spain but that could be wrong. They absolutely are a known thing, I drew picrel in MS paint a couple weeks ago trying to explain it to someone on this board because I couldn't find any pics.

And that reminds me, I remember reading about people making micro-shotgun cartridges from #209 primers. They would insert the primer into the end of a a short plastic straw, which was then filled with a little bit of very fine shot. This made a tiny rimmed cartridge since the rim of the #209's cup would stick out beyond the straw. I tried finding pics but Nu-Google is being retarded.
