Detectives only notice your slight edits when there's a visible difference, such as a swirl or something drawn in ms paint. Since I'm a linux chad I can just use a single imagemagick command to make all of my emotes unnoticeably slightly blurrier, and then detectives will have to take special notice of my posts to bother with md5 searching them.
