Pick up all the YAML mods and the TTrules AI mod and you're in for a good time. The base game is too easy to faceroll due to the AI being braindead and handicapped with standard loadouts otherwise.

Canonically Battletech 'mechs are just as articulate and maneuverable as mobile suits (Gundam). Their weapons are roughly on par or better as well. An armored core could maybe go toe to toe with a light 'mech, but if it's a war of attrition, the Battletech 'mechs are simply just too durable.
