Ohh my god thats amazing. My parents (in their 60s) would love Homestuck if they got around to reading it, its right up their alley,, my dad especially.
But the whole webcomic thing + the length threw them off. Also, if their autistic child liked it, then it's kind of a sign in their heads that "oh that thing is lame and for autistic drooling retards to keep them pacified". Im sure if I could just like, inject the knowledge and stuff into them, they'd be fans, but since there's no way to do that...
I'm gonna try and finally get on call with my gf tonight or this weekend, I hope to also have some updates to share with the class.

That's crazy. I think, even if the end sucks a bit, its best to read homestuck the whole way through. Then read the paradox space comics, then read again with the creator commentary (the stuff Hussie put in the books, but people have made it available online).
I have not and will not read hs^2 or the epilogues because Equius isn't in any of them.
Also they fucked up Rose and Jade and Kanaya and I dont wanna hate Rose, but everything I hear about her in the post-canon whatever shit makes her sound terrible.
