No this is just something that's wrong with modernity. In antiquity little kids would do kid versions of adult activities rather than having their own culture, and adults would keep doing what they learned to do as kids until they physically couldn't anymore. Kids worked and adults played.
The idea that you're supposed to just cut off your past and do something completely different is anti-human factory thinking, same as 45 minute classes then ding, off to the next station. Nothing is continuous and organic, everything is discrete and rational.
Kids don't work because if we had to cut them out to save them from the factory machines twisting their fingers off, and kid culture was just created to manufacture a new market's worth of items to produce and sell.
