As an effeminate homosexual male, I have personally experienced far more intense (indirect) homophobia from men.

whereas with women it's a constant stream of them not taking you seriously, looking for things to use against you, and "calling you out" once they find something
They don't outright bully you for being gay - it's just clear they see you as a threat and competition and will turn on you the second they have something to gain from doing so

Perhaps the perception of males as automatically dangerous has caused emotional trauma for many males who have been demonized in the process of protecting women.
Being a woman is being seen as safe.
